2013 Reliability trial results

Well done to every one who rode if the awful weather conditions

Goride sessions start 19th April 2013

Our weekly Goride sessions start on Friday 19th April at 7-00pm at the Stourport track behind the sportscentre. The sessions are for young riders who want to improve their riding skills and confidence in a safe and fun environment by our clubs trained coaches. The sessions are open to everyone but all riders must wear a helmet and have a cycle in good working order. The sessions last for approximately one hour and cost £1 for members and £3 for non-members. Please visit the Goride section for more information.

Youth ‘chain gang’ training

Starting Wednesday 16th January there will be Youth ‘chain gang’ training from 19.00hrs at Stourport Closed Circuit for just £2 per session.

These will be developed to include seniors a little later on and there is also a Ladies only session planned for late February.

During the spring the floodlights will hopefully be completed to further enhance the facilities at Stourport.

Wyre Forest club members will have free entry to the coached sessions on production of a current (2013) membership card.

2013 WFCRC Reliability Trial 10th February

Information:

The annual WFCRC reliabilities follow the same format as last year. HQ is in our

Club house at Stourport Sports Club, Kingsway, Stourport on Severn, DY13 8BQ where there are changing and shower facilities and a refreshment area with bar serving food and drink. The site also has ample free parking. Entry is on the day and just £3.00. There will again be 3 groups to accommodate different riding/fitness levels. First off at 09.30 will be the fast, Gold group, 5 mins later the Silver group, and finally the Bronze. The first lot have 3½ hours to cover the 58ml course, which needs an average speed of 17mph, zoom! whereas the next group have 4 hours which is 15mph and the last lot of no hopers are given a generous 4½ hours and need only average a pathetic 13 mph. I myself may inhabit this last bunch.

We prefer riders to partake in the spirit of reliabilities and come equipped for winter riding which means mudguards for your own and others benefit. These events are great for group riding but we understand some will treat the day as more serious training, however keep in mind it is not a race and enjoy the camaraderie on the day.

Course for 2013:

From HQ:  Left to main road then turn right going south on A451 over the traffic lights then following the right hand lane of Gilgal and the one way system through Stourport, over the river Severn, and out to Gt Witley; turn right by the Hundred House on A443 climbing (gasp) over Abberley Hill. Carefully descend Stockton Bank and continue going west to Newnham Bridge where the road becomes the A456. Whizz straight on past Tenbury to reach and cross with care the busy A49 at Woofferton, right and left, taking B4362 then B4361 turning slowly south to Luston, & Leominster. Turn left at the junction in Leominster and soon join A49, bearing left and in 1 mile turn right A4112 going N/East to Leysters (nasty drag) & steep descent of Raddle Bank and on to Tenbury; where through the town, over the river Teme, and turn right on A456 to return home via Stockton Bank (much pain), Gt Witley, back through Stourport heading towards Kidderminster, turning left into Kingsway and into HQ.

The half way point at Leominster passes a café/diner just before joining A49, for any who need a ‘pit stop’.  We hope you enjoy the day, the countryside, and companionship of this established Wyre Forest CRC event.
