For those who don't know I am just back from 9 days in Mallorca. Stuart is already heavily booked for next March, when most of us go, so now is a good time to sort bookings, as well as grabbing some good flight prices. If you go to his website, stuarthallcycling, you can browse the details.

Matthew and I are looking at going for around 2 weeks and this is what I have come up with;

Flying out with Easyjet from Bristol 10.25am on Sat 17th March, arrive Palma 13.45 local time. With bike plus 1 hold bag that comes to £89.99. The flight time is good and there is time to unpack and get a short ride in before the evening meal at Pollensa Park hotel.

Flying back with Monarch to B'ham (they only start flying to Mallorca late March) dept 18.20 on Friday 30th March, arrive B'ham 19.50 local time. Cost is coming up as 92.48 euro's inc bike and hold bag. The late dept time means we can get in a ride before packing and leaving the hotel on the friday, plus we will be home at a decent time and with all the wk/end ahead to either wind down, or race! (I think the LVRC Staffordshire Oatcake RR is on the 1st April).

If you have a single room half board (non sharing) then the hotel and transfer costs (with 4 travelling) amounts to £510, so added to the flights above that makes around £690. Pretty good for nearly 2 weeks in the sun riding the bike. If you share a room then the cost comes down. If there is less than 4 on the transfers then the price increases, so I am trying to get at least 2 others travelling on the same flights.

Daily spending is usually around 5 euro's for a lunch stop with baggette and a coffee, another 2 euro's if there is a 2nd coffee stop on the rides (the one's I lead usually have 2 stops and inc a cake as well, yummy). If we get back early, between 3.00 and 5.00pm then we may have a drink at a local cafe/bar near the hotel too. Some evenings after dinner guys walk down to Tolo's bar and restaurant, you spend what you want then!

Weather can be anything from snow to hot and sunny. The first year I was there end of Feb and it was 27 degrees for the first 4 days, then it went cold with snow in the mts for a few days, then it warmed up to around 18/20, so take the neccesary kit. Watch out on baggage weight though, and don't stuff kit in the bike bag/box - you might be made to remove it. Hope this is of help, especially to those who have not been to Mallorca before.
