Coaching in WFCRC

Introduction

Coaching in the Wyre Forest CRC is something new to the club. Prior to 2004 the club had no qualified or even part-qualified Coaches. In line with the vision of British Cycling , Wyre Forest CRC have embarked on a mission to introduce youngsters to the sport via Go-Ride and to train up Club Members as British Cycling qualified coaches.

Go-Ride

Go-Ride is a scheme, developed by British Cycling, to introduce youngsters to Cycling. Typically, it involves clubs, such as Wyre Forest, running sessions for kids which encourage them to have fun on a bike, trying mini-versions of the sport, working on their skills and learning them how to handle a bike correctly via skills tests. The sessions may be run as part of a school curriculum or independently by the club.

In 2005, Wyre Forest CRC registered as a Go-Ride club and in 2008 achieved Clubmark accreditation putting WFCRC in the top 1% of clubs in the UK.

As part of Go-Ride, we now have trainee Level 1 & 2 Activity Coaches ( Joe Rowe, & Richard Pedersen ). Dave Prior is also a qualified BCCS Club Coach and British Amateur Weight Lifting Association Coach (Cycling Specific).
